OVERVIEW:
Youth involved in the court system have a desire to participate in their court proceedings. While in the courtroom, children are overwhelmed by the complexities of different types of cases and confused by the process of adjudication and various roles of players in the legal system.
RESULTS:
Working with Pink Leaf, Department of Child Services (DCS) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), we developed Amaya and the Courthouse Mouse that will provide children a valuable guide to understand the life cycle of a court case for children in the Indiana court system, while acknowledging their emotions.
