OVERVIEW:

Soutside is a close knit community that work together to make their home a better place. The people of Southside are currently working toward reestablishing their community connection. Studio 165+ was approached by Building Better Neighborhoods seeking an identity design for each neighborhood in Muncie to reflect their unique aspects and goals.

RESULTS:

This identity design takes inspiration from the structure of the Southside Middle School — a hub for education as well as additional academic opportunities including physical education, family and consumer science, art, music, computer technology, industrial technology, band, and choir. The bold typography emphasizes character education for kids and the compass needle signifies the spirit of “adventurism” and “exploration” that the teachers pass on to the kids. The compact design highlights the close-knit community and a sense of belonging, with everyone having been under the same school roof at one point in time.
