OVERVIEW:
CenterPoint Scholars is a year-long leadership academy created by the Muncie Action Plan (MAP) to cultivate emerging neighborhood leaders. Supported by a grant from CenterPoint Energy, the program equips residents with the skills, relationships, and confidence needed to strengthen the communities they call home. Since 2010, MAP has supported local leadership through its Neighborhood Leadership Council, and the CenterPoint Scholars Program builds on that foundation by offering structured learning in listening, advocacy, resident engagement, and project management. Open to adult residents of Muncie, the program aims to empower individuals who are passionate about improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods and driving long-term community development.
RESULTS:
The final identity concepts explore community, leadership, and connection through various visual metaphors. The design highlights a community as an intertwined network of individuals, represented through continuous line work that symbolizes unity and shared purpose. A separate line forms a rooftop structure, visually grounding the figures and nodding to MAP’s role in supporting neighborhood initiatives. This creates an image of people gathered under a common mission to strengthen Muncie’s neighborhoods. The design solution showcases a visual identity rooted in connection, empowerment, and the collective effort required to build thriving neighborhoods.
